update February 1, 2021 at 4:00 p.m.

Over the weekend, one of our staff members connected to a few independent living sites tested positive for COVID-19. After discussions with Alberta Health Services, an investigation and contact tracing was conducted to determine possible transmission. In addition to Deer Meadows and Brookside, potential contact was also made at Jamieson Manor and Hillside Village.

At this time, no sites are on outbreak protocols. However, further testing and surveillance/restrictions will be implemented.

Deer Meadows & Brookside

Tenants at these two sites are asked to undergo prevalence testing. Alberta Health Services will be conducting this testing through their mobile unit at these two sites either today or tomorrow. Staff are also being asked to undergo testing at the Health site.

Staff members identified as close contacts went into isolation and underwent testing - all tests came back negative.

As a precautionary measure, the dining rooms at both sites are closed. Meal service will move to room delivery. As well, common areas are closed to tenants and their guests.

All visitors must follow the guidelines and restrictions, as well as review the health screening sheet. Visits are limited to the tenant's apartment only.

Jamieson Manor & Hillside Village

While these two sites are not part of the watch, they are on heightened surveillance due to possible exposure.

Any tenants identified as a close contact will be notified and asked to undergo testing and isolate themselves in their apartments.

Common areas are closed to tenants and their guests. Any visitors to the building must review the health screening sheet and limit their visit to the tenant's apartment.
