Affordable and Community Housing
The Affordable and Community Housing Program provides subsidized rental housing to low income families, senior citizens, and individuals with special needs who cannot afford private sector accommodation. Applicants whose income falls below local income limits are eligible to apply (Core Need Income Threshold).
Affordable Housing
In Camrose we currently have 18 three-bedroom homes targeted at low income families who are having difficulty finding suitable housing. The rent is currently $700.00 per month and includes heat and water.
These homes were made possible by support from the Federal Government, the Alberta Government, and the City of Camrose. Shadow Ridge Homes were the builders of the project.
Community Housing
Applicants are given priority based on need, as determined by income, assets, and current housing condition. A tenant's rent, which includes heat, water and sewer expenses, is based on 30 percent of a household's adjusted income. The tenant is responsible for electricity, telephone and cable television, as well as any additional services they may request (i.e. parking).
The Bethany Group has 82 units of community social housing accommodation in Camrose and Wetaskiwin.
Anyone who would benefit from this type of housing should submit a Camrose application form to the Housing Department in Camrose or a Wetaskiwin application form the Housing Department in Wetaskiwin.
